BJP President Amit Shah has cut short his trip to Kerala and will be returning to New Delhi via Mangaluru on Wednesday, the Times of India reported.

"All the programmes have been postponed since Shah had to return to Delhi for an emergency work," said district BJP president Sanjeeva Matandoor, while speaking to the daily.

Shah, who arrived at Mangaluru International Airport 1.15am on Tuesday, kicked off the Jana Raksha rally at Payyanur in Kannur district of Kerala. He will be returning to New Delhi via Mangaluru airport at 10pm.

Shah was scheduled to meet opinion makers and intellectuals on Wednesday. The district unit of the party had identified opinion makers and intellectuals for the meeting.

Though Shah was supposed to take part in the rally in Kerala also on October 5 and 6, he cut short the tour and returned to Delhi after receiving a message from the party headquarters. Sanjeeva said the party district leaders are not aware of the reason for his sudden change in programme schedule.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath who is also in Kerala will be part of the rally.
