Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a high-level review meeting with national security advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, union home secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla and top head of intelligence agencies to take a stock of internal security preparedness in view of the developments across the border in Pakistan.

According to the intelligence agencies, Pakistan's Inter-services Intelligence (ISI) and Army are focussing on build up along the border besides activating the launch pads of terrorist outfits like Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) across the line of control (LoC) to foment trouble in the valley.

Sources have claimed that Pakistan has positioned over 250 well trained militants near the LoC to help them sneak into the valley. Constant vigilance and pressure by the Indian security forces have so far contained any spill over of the militancy beyond some pockets of Jammu and Kashmir.

The meeting also took stock in detail the prevailing situation in Jammu and Kashmir and reviewed the relaxation that is being extended steadily in various parts of the valley. The meeting coincided with Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik calling on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. Malik briefed the two leaders about various steps the administration has taken on the ground level to build up confidence among the general public.

Malik had earlier said that the Prime Minister told him to make Jammu and Kashmir so prosperous that the people of Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) would want to come and settle there.

Sources said the meeting also discussed the possible fall out of detaining former chief minister of the state Farooq Abdullah, who is currently a member of the Lok Sabha, under the public safety act (PSA). Modi government has come under lot of flak for slapping PSA on an ailing senior Abdullah who is 83 year old and suffers from kidney and heart problems.
