Amit Shah announces new BJP team; Varun Gandhi out, Yeddyurappa in

Ahead of the assembly elections in Haryana, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Amit Shah has announced his new team of office bearers which includes 11 vice presidents, eight general secretaries and 14 secretaries. 

Shah's new team includes B Dattatray, BS Yeddyurappa, Satpal Malik, MA Naqvi, P Ruppala, Prabhat Jha, Raghuvar Das, Kiran Maheswari, Vinay Sahasrbuddhe, Renu Devi and Dinesh Sharma as the new Vice Presidents.

He retained JP Nadda, Rajiv Paratap Rudy, Murlidhar Rao and Ram Lal as general secretaries. Ram Madhav has also been named as general secretary while Varun Gandhi has been conspicuously dropped from the post. The other general secretarie are Saroj Pandey, Bhupendra Yadav and Ram Shanakar Katheriya.

He also named Lalita Kumar Mangalam, Nalin Kohli, Sambit Patra, Anil Baloni, GVL Narsimha Rao as the party's new national spokespersons. Shahanawaz Hussain, Sudhanshu Trivedi, Meenakshi Lekhi,  MJ Akbar, BS Shastri were retained.

Abdul Rashid Ansari will continue as the BJP Minority Morcha chief, while Anurag Thakur remains the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha chief. 

Vijaya Rahatka has been named BJP's Mahila Morcha chief.

"The new BJP office bearers have worked for the organization in the states, they are experienced," senior BJP leader JP Nadda rold ANI. "This is a new, young team. 60% of the new office bearers are under 50. Modiji's mission will be implemented by this new Yuva BJP team under Amit Shah's leadership," he added.

Several members of the BJP praised the team that Shah has put together.
