Air Marshal Arup Raha to be new Indian Air Force chief

Air Marshal Arup Raha will take over as the Chief of Air Staff from Air Marshal NAK Browne when the latter retires on 31 December, the government announced on Tuesday.  

Air Marshal Raha, who is now the Vice Chief of Air Staff, was commissioned into the Indian Air Force on December 14, 1974 in the fighter stream of the flying branch. In his 39-year career, he has held various command, staff and instructional appointments, including serving as the air attache at the Embassy of India in Ukraine. He has earlier commanded the Central and the Western Air commands, and is one of the honorary ADCs to the Supreme Commander.
