West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is all set to visit New Delhi on Tuesday and carry ahead with programmes scheduled earlier, despite the cancellation of an event at Delhi university's St. Stephen's College on August 1.

According to reports, Mamata Banerjee was scheduled to interact with students of Delhi's prestigious St Stephen's college. But the college backed out citing protocol issues. However, Didi will be coming to the capital and will take part in other events she is scheduled to attend.  She will be the chief guest at the Love your Neighbour conference organised by the Catholic Bishops Conference on August 31, as per ANI. Mamata Banerjee may even visit the Parliament where currently the Monsoon Session is underway.

This is the third time in recent times that Mamata Banerjee's scheduled event has been cancelled. First she called off her China tour ‘political meetings at the at the appropriate level couldn’t be confirmed’. Later her Vivekananda event in Chicago was also called off after the organisers backed off and said that it would be held later.

Some TMC leaders believe that the organisers have backed out owing to 'saffron pressure' as Mamata Banerjee has been one of the most strident critics of BJP-RSS in recent times. On Martyr's Day Rally, Mamata Banerjee gave a clarion call for ouster of BJP from Centre and said that Bengal will show path to the nation in 2019. However, so far TMC hasn't officially reacted to the development of Mamata's event being cancelled.
