Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest has sparked displeasure among AAP supporters. Having been arrested on Wednesday after refusing to post bail in a case filed by Nitin Gadkari.

However, his arrest sparked protests outside the jail and also caused a clash between AAP supporters and the police officials. The protestors were then shoved into buses and arrested. Featuring among them were prominent AAP leaders like Yogendra Yadav and Sanjay Singh.

Some of the protestors however were released on bail. One of them being Ashutosh who was quoted as having said that, “Some activists have been released on bail. AAP leader Ashutosh said, “We respect the court order but the high-handedness of cops was not required. We will start a door-to-door campaign to tell people how an honest person like Kejriwal is behind bars.”

The decision for the contact based protest was taken at a meeting AAP leaders had with Kejriwal at the Tihar jail Thursday morning. The idea was based in the reasoning that this kind of peaceful campaigning would be both more effective and also would give no reason for law enforcement to intervene with AAP's activities.

The display by both Kejriwal as well as AAP protestors have been labeled as a ‘publicity stunts’ by both Congress and BJP leaders.

Congress leader Digvijaya Singh tweeted, "Kejriwal instead of doing NAUTANKI should join me in exposing Gadkari. He has also filed a defamation case in the same Court against me."

Kejriwal's wife Sunita however has made it clear that in her opinion calling his actions dramatic are unfair to her husband and the ordeal he is undergoing.
