A 9-year-old minor girl child was raped and murdered during a ‘tilak ceremony’ in the Etah district of the state on Thursday night.
This was the second incident of rape and murder of a minor girl in the past four days in Etah district. Earlier, in a similar incident, a 7-year-old girl was raped and murdered by a 19-year-old tent contractor Sonu during a wedding function in Galla Mandi in the district on Tuesday.
The accused was caught red-handed and arrested from the spot. He was sent to a 14-day judicial remand after registration of a case under 302, 376 of the IPC and 3 and 4 of the POCSO Act against him.
In the latest case, a 9-year-old minor girl was lured away by a 25-year-old man, identified as Pintu, a member of the catering team, to a field during a pre-wedding function in Kaitha village in Aliganj area.
Pintu raped her and when the girl started screaming due to pain, he strangulated her to death.
Her family members launched a search when they did not find the girl around. They found her body in a nearby field, about 100 metres away from the function. They rushed her to the hospital where she was declared brought dead.
ASP Etah Sanjay Kumar said that a few people attending the ‘tilak ceremony’ had seen the girl with Pintu. “On the complaint of the family members, the police arrested the accused who confessed his crime,” said the ASP.
During interrogation and medical check up of the accused, police found that Pintu had consumed liquor before committing the crime. He had asked for a glass of water from the victim for consuming liquor and later took her to a nearby to commit the crime in an inebriated state.
Heavy police force has been deployed at Kaitha Village following the second incident of rape and murder involving minor girl child in Etah district.
