A 65-year-old man, Anil Kumar Mulchandani, was arrested on Monday for allegedly molesting a passenger on their Mumbai-bound Vistara flight. The Sahar police made the arrest after the victim landed in Mumbai and filed a complaint against Mulchandani for touching her inappropriately on the flight.
"The victim is a resident of Singapore and was coming to Mumbai to visit her relatives. According to the complaint, during the course of the flight, Mulchandani, sitting next to her, touched her inappropriately more than three times.
She asked him to stop, but he still didn't back off, after which she approached the cabin crew, who arranged another seat for Mulchandani. Later, after landing, the victim, accompanied by the cabin crew members, approached the on-duty police officers of the airport,"said senior police inspector of Sahar police station, Lata Shirsat, adding, "The officers then brought him to the police station and complaint was registered under section 354 of the Indian Penal Code. Mulchandani will be produced to the court on Tuesday and as of now he is being questioned."
Meanwhile, in a statement, the airline has said, "There was an incident involving two customers on-board UK995 operating between Delhi-Mumbai on January 7, 2019. We are extending our full support to the authorities in investigating the matter. Ensuring safety, security, and peace of mind of our customers is of paramount importance to us."
