The only silver lining, apparently, is that the new train would be catering to the passengers of Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat as it will take a detour via Madhya Pradesh, instead of Gujarat.

Commuters between Delhi and Mumbai have something to cheer with Railway Minister Piyush Goyal flagging off third Rajdhani train on the busy route on Saturday.

But how successful will be the new train is still to be seen as the two existing Rajdhani trains - Mumbai Rajdhani and August Kranti - are not getting full passenger load because of competitive pricing from airlines.

The only silver lining, apparently, is that the new train would be catering to the passengers of Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat as it will take a detour via Madhya Pradesh, instead of Gujarat.

The new Rajdhani, a bi-weekly train from Hazrat Nizamuddin station, will be the first train passing through the Central zone, covering Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Kalyan, Nasik, Jalgaon, Khandwa, Bhopal, Jhansi, Agra, and Hazrat Nizamuddin. It will pass through two significant Hindi heartland states - Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, the Railway Ministry said.
