Around 25 flights of national carrier Air India were delayed after its software in the check-in system developed a 3-hour long snag on Saturday afternoon. Passengers were stranded at several airports across the world.
“The airline’s check-in system’s software developed a snag around 12 noon on Saturday. However, the snag was rectified within three hours at around 3 pm. But, this affected several flights, considering the cascading effect that is seen once the schedule goes off track,” said an Air India official.
Domestic flights were the worst affected. An average delay of at least 15 to 30 minutes was observed due to the snag.
Many passengers took to Twitter to express their displeasure. “Our AI flight, from Hyderabad to Delhi, is delayed by more than two hours. No refreshments provided to the waiting passengers because of this delay,” Karan Saini, a passenger, said.
