19-year-old held with revolver in Andheri

Crime branch sleuths arrested a 19-year-old from Nalasopara for the possession of a firearm and live cartridges on Saturday.

According to the police, the crime branch had received information that a person carrying a firearm was expected near a popular coffee shop at Mahakali Road in Andheri (E).

Subsequently, a trap was laid at the spot and the suspect, Pramodkumar Lalchand Yadav, a resident of Rasabiv Nagar, was apprehended around 2 pm as soon as he arrived at the spot. "After searching the person we seized one country-made six-chambered revolver and two live cartridges. We have also seized his mobile phone and SIM card," said a crime branch officer.

The police are now interrogating Yadav about the source of the weapon and cartridges, as well as who he was planning to hand them to. Yadav has been booked under relevant sections of the Arms Act for illegally possessing a firearm.
