14,114 children went missing in Chhattisgarh in last 5 years

As per the reply, 2,757 cases of missing children were reported in 2010, followed by 3,187 in 2011, 3,334 (2012), 2,907 (2013), 1,776 (2014) and 153, while 3,396 cases of missing adult girls and women were recorded in 2010, followed by 3,921 (2011), 3,867 (2012), 4,163 (2013), 4,263 (2014) and 359.

As many as 14,114 cases of missing children were reported in the last five years in Chhattisgarh and the Supreme Court has directed the state government to trace them, the Legislative Assembly was told on Monday.

In a written reply to a question raised by the Leader of Opposition TS Singhdeo, Home Minister Ramsewak Paikra said the state has reported 14,114 cases of missing children since 2010 till February 6 this year.

Similarly, 19,969 cases of missing adult girls and women were reported in the state during this period, he said.

"It is true the Hon. Supreme Court has issued directives to the Chhattisgarh Government and other states to immediately trace the missing children over a writ petition filed by the 'Bachpan Bachao Andolan'," Paikra said in the reply.
