The 75th Golden Globes Awards saw Hollywood glamazons wearing black to raise awareness about gender and racial inequality and make a statement about sexual harassment in the entertainment industry. From the fashion point of view, the red carpet was divided into three sartorial brackets — black with matching tone-on-tone shimmer, with sheer and opaque noir and gowns with thigh-high slits.

Transparency rules

The red carpet saw an interesting play of sheer and translucence thus injecting oomph to the noir dress code. Actresses were seen opting for gowns which were transparent, yet, left a lot to the imagination.

Wiccan vibes

Angelina Jolie never has a dull red carpet moment and this time too, she slayed it in a dramatic sheer and feathered accented number.

Goddess allure

Catherine Zeta-Jones was a vision in a sheer and embroidered black gown with a cascading trail. A pair of statement emerald earrings and a matching ring added colour to the look.

Sheer meets nude

Jessica Biel knocked it out of the ballpark in a pleated, off-shoulder gown which had a nude layering and an opaque line breaking the pleats in the middle. She kept her make-up minimal and let the rose pink pout do all the talking.

Sheer magnitude

Halle Berry set the temperature soaring in a slip-inspired lace number, matching her sleek heels and statement earpieces. Fringed mane covering most of her forehead and a faint pink lip accented the ensemble.

Thigh-high temptresses

The likes of Arielle Kebbel, Lea Michele and Nina Dobrev opted for gowns with thigh-high slits, thus putting their best leg forward and channelling their inner Angelina Jolie.

It’s all about the leg

Arielle Kebbel wore a beaded number which had a slit running across the bust and an asymmetrical neckline. She completed her look with a black manicure and a matching clutch.

The sexy slit

Lea Michele gave shutterbugs a generous view of her gorgeous legs as she picked an off-shoulder gown which had a thigh-high slit. Black heels and a wavy mane added gravitas to the outing.

Haute holograph

Nina Dobrev picked an off-shoulder gown which had a slit and also a holographic panel running across, thus breaking the black monotony. She paired it ith a minimal necklace and a clutch.

Shine-on glamazons

This year is anyway about shine and sparkle. Also, the disco trend is here to stay, so it wasn’t surprising to see stylists let their wild, party fantasy come into play and dress actresses in metallic sheath numbers.

Miss Metallica

Dakota Johnson looked like a bird of paradise in a black Gucci gown, which had crystal embroidery on the back that cascaded across the pleats, making it one of the standout pieces of the evening. A messy fringed mane tied into a pony and diamond jewellery were great additions to this look.

Miss statement sparkles

Kerry Washington was a vision in a fully-sequinned, off-shoulder number which she matched with sparkly pointed-toe shoes.

Old world glam

Marin Hinkle opted for a fully-beaded black gown completing her look with a pair of black dangler earrings and a sparkly clutch.

Deja vu diary

Both Kendall Jenner and Heidi Klum picked gowns with high-low hemline. While Kendall’s Giambattista Valli was frothy and dramatic with a statement train, Heidi’s look was rather understated.
