March 8th is celebrated as International Women's Day across the globe every year. To honour women achievers and role models from all walks of life, American company Mattel has come up with a new range of Barbie dolls. To inspire young girls to fulfil their dream and inspire them, Barbie has launched 17 new dolls to honour real life role models.

From Frieda Kahlo to Chloe Kim, the new range of dolls includes artists, aviators, athletes, filmmakers and others. This is Barbie's attempt to show girls that they can grow up to be anything and they can take up any challenges. Lisa McKnight, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Barbie said in a press statement, “Girls have always been able to play out different roles and careers with Barbie and we are thrilled to shine a light on real-life role models to remind them that they can be anything.” The lineup is a part of Mattel’s Shero programme that includes 14 modern-day role models and 3 historical role models, women who have broken boundaries in their fields and broken stereotypes and become an inspiration for the next generation of girls.

The world famous brand of dolls even took to Twitter and wrote, " With 86% of US moms worried about the type of role models their daughters are exposed to, we are committed to shining a light on empowering female role models in an effort to inspire more girls. Join us by sharing your role models using #MoreRoleModels."

Snowboarder Chlow Kim couldn't hold back her excitement and tweeted, " I'm so happy to be honoured as a Barbie Shero alongside these incredible women."

Even Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins took to Twitter and expressed her joy. She wrote, "Can't express how totally mind blowing and delightful it is to have your childhood favorite resemble you!!  Thank you @Barbie, for this incredible honor, and for celebrating all kinds of women, everywhere. What a great way to inspire the girls of tomorrow!"

Twitter has already given a thumbs up to Barbie's tribute to women on International's Women's Day
