The first trailer for Crazy Rich Asians dropped on Monday and as the title points out, it is crazy, lavish, and boasts an all-Asian principal cast.
The story, adapted from Kevin Kwan's novel of the same name, follows chronicles of Rachel Chu (Constance Wu) as she accompanies her longtime boyfriend, Nick Young (Henry Golding), to his best friend’s wedding in Singapore. Excited about visiting Asia for the first time but nervous about meeting Nick’s family, Rachel is unprepared for the surprise that her boyfriend is not only the scion of one of the country’s wealthiest families but also one of its most sought-after bachelors.
"You really should've told me you're like the Prince William of Asia," says Rachel to her boyfriend Nick.
"That's ridiculous. I'm much more of a Harry," replies Nick.
"Daaamn, Rachel, he's like the Asian Bachelor!" says Rachel's best friend Peik Lin (Awkwafina).
Being on Nick’s arm puts a target on Rachel’s back, with jealous socialites and, worse, Nick’s own disapproving mother Elenor (Michelle Yeoh) taking aim.
A tussel ensues between the mother and the lover in which Rachel doesn't seem in a mood to back down.
When Elenor says Rachel will never be enough, latter replies, "If Nick chose me, he will lose his family and if he chose his family, he might spend rest of his life resenting you."
The words take away the colour from Elenor's face.
The trailer promises parties, glamour, abs, and opulence. But ultimately it will all boil down to who the characters love.

Apart from aforementioned stars, the cast also has Ken Jeong, Gemma Chan and Jimmy O. Yang playing pivotal roles.
Directed by Jon M. Chu Crazy Rich Asians will hit theatres on August 17.
