At the recent Oscars, Margot Robbie made an entry with her mother Sarie Kessler. The mother-daughter duo who were clicked on the red carpet received much attention, especially due to Sarie’s resemblance to actress Robin Wright. Margot, who was nominated for her role as Olympian Tonya Harding in I, Tonya, took her mom as her plus one and later in the night, partied at the Vanity Fair Oscar soiree with husband Tom Ackerley. She’s not the first to attend the awards ceremony with a parent. Here are some others who went the family way...   

Timothée Chalamet  

Timothée, who was nominated for the Best Actor’s award, looked suave in a white tuxedo as he walked in with his mother, Nicole Flender. This is not the first time the actor has attended an awards show with his parent. He brought her along at the Screen Actors Guild Awards five years ago as well.

Emma Stone

Emma shares a close bond with her brother Spencer and this year too, like last, she brought her brother along for company. The year 2017 was a big one for the actress who won the Oscar for Best Actress for her role in La La Land. During her acceptance speech, she made a special mention of thanks to her brother.

Ryan Gosling

Last year, Ryan attended the Academy awards with a mystery date. Instead of beau Eva Mendes, the actor came with his sister Mandi Gosling. Before her identity was revealed, many fans took to Twitter to speculate who she could be. Mandi is a producer who worked on an episode of Dateline.

Dev Patel

Dev, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Lion last year, came with his mother Anita Patel on his arm. While the actor looked dapper in a white tuxedo, his mother took the desi route in a sari. 

Chris Evans

Chris Evans may play superhero Captain America but he is a family man at heart. While in 2016 he brought his sister Carly to the Oscars, in 2017 he attended with his other sister Shanna. The actor has previously also brought his mother Lisa along.

Jared Leto

Back in 2014, Jared who won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in Dallas Buyers Club, took his mother Constance and brother Shannon along as his dates for the night. During his speech he paid tribute to his mother for believing in him. He said, “She was a high school dropout and a single mom, but somehow she managed to make a better life for herself and her children. She encouraged her kids to be creative, to work hard and to do something special. That girl is my mother and she’s here tonight.”

Matthew McConaughey

Matthew enjoyed his 2014 Oscars win with not just wife Camila Alves but also his mother Mary Kathlene McCabe. In his speech he thanked her saying, “To my mother, who’s here tonight, who taught me and my two brothers — demanded that we respect ourselves. And what we in turn learned was we were better able to respect others. Thank you for that mom.”
