Anushka Sharma's Sultan teaser seems to be completely copied from an inspirational ad featuring Geeta Phogat. Given that Dangal is about Geeta's father, does Aamir need to worry now?
Anushka Sharma's Sultan teaser which was unveiled online on account of her birthday on Sunday morning has raised a lot of eyebrows now. Firstly, the makers seemed to have copied the entire teaser scene by scene from an ad featuring wrestler Geeta Phogat.
A source from the industry on condition of anonymity tells us, "It's shocking that something like this has happened. What did they think? They won't be able to get away with the blatant plagiarism? At least, they could have attributed it or just mentioned Geeta's name somewhere."
We have got proof that the Anushka teaser which introduces her Sultan character - that of wrestler Aarfa - has been simply copied. Yes, the teaser has been copied from an ad featuring the famous Indian wrestler Geeta Phogat. Don't believe us?

Now, compare the two and you will have your answer. Like the ad, the Sultan teaser too begins on a note of women empowerment and celebrating their inner strengths and captures the journey of an ordinary Indian girl who not only finishes her daily duties at home but also trains hard and works on her strength to show the world that she's a woman of steel.
The Haryanvi lines in the teaser, mouthed by Salman Khan also sounds interestingly similar to the background lines in the ad. We definitely loved Anushka in the teaser but now that this has been established that the teaser is almost scene-by-scene lifted from this ad, we wonder what the fans will have to say now!
Also, Aamir Khan is making a film on the life of Mahavir Phogat - Geeta's father where Geeta's journey too will be shown in full glory. But ever since they started shooting, everyone knew Dangal is a biopic whereas the makers of Sultan always maintained that their film is a fictionalised story and has no resemblance to anyone in real.
Now that the journey of Anushka's character Aafra in the film looks uncannily similar to Geeta's life story, there's one big point of concern here. Is Aafra loosely inspired from Geeta's life? If that is, then it will be a huge blow to the makers of Dangal. Why? Aamir Khan's Dangal releases this year Christmas, almost six months after Sultan hits screens. If the story of Geeta gets unfolded with Sultan, the surprise element in Dangal, owing to Geeta's role in the Nitesh Tiwary film will be lost. And that will mean a lot of losses for Aamir and the Dangal team.
Previously, ever since Sultan and Dangal were announced, the clash of similar plots was always considered a talking point and a concern for team Dangal. Especially since they are releasing after Sultan, the novelty factor will go missing. And now that both the film are based on wrestling, similarities were bound to happen. But the Anushka teaser proves that it's not just merely similar but it might have an entirely same angle to the plot, with respect to Aafra. We wonder what team Aamir will have to say to this!
