Anushka Sharma is currently in the news for more reasons than one. Besides her film Jab Tak Hai Jaan, she has been grabbing headlines for various link-ups, the latest being with actor Arjun Kapoor. Anushka dismisses it saying, “When two single people meet, everyone loves to become a matchmaker. But there’s so much work in front of me that I have no time for anything else.”

She may have had a slow start after her debut film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, but post Band Baaja Baaraat, Anushka has shot into the big league and is on the radar of every filmmaker. From Rajkumar Hirani’s PK opposite Aamir Khan, Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet with Ranbir Kapoor and Vishal Bhardwaj’s Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola co-starring Imran Khan — Anushka’s having a dream run. “It feels great that four directors whose films are so different and varied could see me fit in the characters they etched,” beams Anushka.

To top it all, she is the only heroine to have been directed by both Aditya and Yash Chopra. She made her debut with Aditya’s film and is part of legendary director Yash Chopra’s swan song. “I feel very blessed because not only is it special that I could be a part of Yashji’s film but sadly it was his last film,” says Anushka.

Asked how different the two are from each other, she says that she understood drama better from the senior Chopra. “Also, in a strange way you felt larger-than-life when you acted in his film,” smiles the actor, adding that his films are eternal love stories, surreal and inspirational. “Adi,” she says, “grew up watching his films, so naturally the soul of their films is the same. But Adi’s films are about goodness, strength of character, a man of his words.” She points out that Suri (SRK’s character in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi) was a good man and didn’t change for anything. “Raj Aryan of Mohabbatein came back to prove his point while Raj of Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge would not go against the father,” she adds.

On the other hand, “Yashji’s films have romance from A to Z and his couples are eternal. He has left a huge legacy,” Anushka says. Ask what her idea of romance is and the actor says, she seeks a kind of compatibility “that is soothing and exciting at the same time.” Go figure!
