Ed Sheeran, Sir Paul McCartney awarded in the Queen's Birthday Honours list

Julie Walters, musicians Ed Sheeran and Paul McCartney among others have been recognised for their contribution to public service and awarded in the Queen's Birthday Honours list.

The line-up, which was released on June 16, comprises more than 1,000 people getting honoured for their commitment towards the community, reported The Telegraph.

Walters, 67, was made a Dame, along with the Gone With The Wind star Olivia de Havilland, who became the oldest recipient of damehood at the age of 100.

Sheeran, 26, was awarded an MBE (Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) in the list.

McCartney, 75, was upgraded with a Companion of Honour award for his services to music, twenty years after The Beatles frontman was knighted by the Queen.

Author J K Rowling and cook-TV host Delia Smith have also been elevated to the Companion of Honour.

Comedian David Walliams has been recognised for his services to charity and the arts.

Other stars to be get knighted include comedian-musician Billy Connolly and actress Gugu Mbatha-Raw.
