A new video entitled It’s Your Fault went viral on the social media site YouTube on Saturday. The video, featuring Bollywood actress Kalki Koechlin and VJ Juhi Pande, takes a satirical stance on rape and how victims are blamed for the crime

The video was posted on September 19 and the hits started climbing rapidly to reach 251,946 hits on Saturday. Directed by Ashwin Shetty and written by stand up comedians Tanmay Bhat, Gursimran Khamba, Rohan Joshi, Ashish Shakya, the writing team behind the sketch show AIB 365, it addresses the issue of blaming the victim for wearing provocative clothes, being in the wrong place, going out at night and other ridiculous reasons.

More women these days are beginning to question whether it is in fact something they are doing to provoke an aggressive reaction from men. In the video, Kalki, who has acted in popular films Dev D and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, and Juhi who is a popular VJ and micro-blogger, present this absurd notion using sarcasm and wit.

Since the video was published it’s gone viral and has sparked a positive reaction from the viewers enforcing the notion that not all people think it is the victims fault. Comments from some of YouTube users even commented requesting that video, which is in English be dubbed in Hindi and other regional languages so that the message is understood by all.
