Tollywood actress Geethanjali, who was soon going to be seen in Tamannaah Bhatia starrer Queen remake That Is Mahalaxmi, passed away in the wee hours of Thursday morning. The veteran actor suffered a heart attack and upon being admitted to Apollo Hospital in Film Nagar, was declared dead.

Geethanjali was 62-year-old, married to popular veteran hero Ramakrishna. She is now survived by son Adith Srinivas. Apart from Tamil movies, Geethanjali also acted in Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi films. The actress worked in over 500 films in a career spanning close to six decades.

Manoj Manchu wrote, "Sad to hear #Geethanjali garus sudden demise. My condolences-to the family ... she was very close to our family and it’s really heartbreaking.... u will always live through Cinema andi. Rest in peace ..." Actor Srinivas Redddy and writer Gopi Mohan also shared their condolences for the late actor.

Some of Geethanjali's noted works include Seetharama Kalyanam, Dr. Chakravarthy, Letha Manasulu, Bobbili Yuddham, Devatha, Letha Manasulu, Gudachari 116 and Sambarala Rambabu. She was introduced to the industry by senior NTR. Her last rites will be performed by evening.
