Noted actor Amol Palekar has filed a plea with the Supreme Court, questioning the pre-censorship of films and seeking certain relaxations in the same. As per a tweet of ANI, Palekar moved SC seeking some relaxations in the censorship rules, suggesting the removal of pre-censorship of movies.

The ANI report further added that a notice has been issued to the Information and Broadcasting Ministry and the censor board, based on the PIL, in order to relax the pre-censorship seen on Indian films.

Palekar told NDTV that he's come to court seeking a complete revamp of the censor board and the cinematographer's act. A DeccanHerald report adds that Palekar, in his petition challenged the provisions of the Cinematography Act, saying that in the age of Internet, pre-censorship has become irrelevant.
