Looks like actors sporting two or more distinct looks in one film is becoming a trend. After Ajay Devgn's three avatars in Action Jackson, it's Varun Dhawan who will be sporting two distinct looks in his upcoming film Badlapur - one will be that of a young teenager and another of a 45-year-old man, rugged and intense. Says Varun, "For the teenage character I didn't have to do much, I played it from my memories but for the look of a 45-year-old man I had to work a lot. I had to change my body language, undergo voice modulation, etc, for which I did a lot of workshops. I also took inspiration from my director Sriram Raghavan and observed his mannerisms. Besides, I lost around six kilos in a span of 12 days by eating only boiled food and also stopped working out." And of course, make-up and prosthetics helped!

As the young Raghu, Varun is shown a college student who falls in love with Misha (Yami Gautam) and marries her. They have a kid Robin. Incidentally, this will be the first time Varun plays a father on screen. Fifteen years later, he is seen as a brooding man, set to take revenge on people who hurt him and killed his wife. "Badlapur is a noir. What the noir genre does best is present a very normal protagonist, someone we can easily identify with, and then place him or her in some kind of moral quandary. Through the story, the viewer is forced to consider what their own reactions would be to the situation and thus, their own morality."
