With a view to encourage film production in the state, the Uttar Pradesh government has decided to increase the amount of subsidy given as an incentive. Each film produced in the state is now entitled to a subsidy of up to Rs 2 crore. UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has recently launched the distribution of film subsidy under the film policy. According to the CM, UP is a good location for filmmaking and has also assured all possible help from the state government to producers for shooting their films.

The Chief Minister handed over a cheque of Rs 2.25 crore to Jaanisaar's filmmaker Muzaffar Ali. The film will mark the debut of fashion designer Pernia Qureshi and will have Pakistani actor Imraan Abbas play the romantic lead opposite her. Before this, Boney Kapoor's Tevar and Tigmanshu Dhulia's Bullet Raja got subsidies for shootingh in the state. The government's effort in this direction will not only help promote the growth of the film industry but also generate numerous employment opportunities in the state.
