Two Kannada films bound for film festival in Lahore

For the first time in its history, two Kannada films are set to be screened in Pakistan. Angulimala and Bhavanegala Benneri will be the only Indian films to be shown at the annual Rafi Peer international film festival at Lahore.

Bhavanegala... is directed by Nikhilmanjoo L and Angulimala by Baraguru Ramachandrappa.
Nikhilmanjoo’s movie deals with autism and Baraguru’s film seeks to convey a message against terrorism.

The two Kannada films, along with films from other countries, will be screened at Lahore between December 27 and 29.

Angulimala has been selected for screening at Rafi Peer Film Festival and also Kolkata International Film Festival to be held between November 10 and 17,” said Baraguru Ramachandrappa in a press release. The movie has Saikumar and Raghu Mukherjee in the lead. Jayanthi, Mukhyamantri Chandru, Vatsala Mohan, Girija Lokesh, Harini, Radha Ramachandra and Pallakki Radhakrishna are the other star cast. Its shooting was completed in 32 days and the climax was shot at Bangalore Palace.

The protagonist of Bhavanegala... is a mentally and physically challenged by birth. The director, Nikhilmanjoo, won four state awards for 2010-11 for his film Onduralli, handled megaphone for this film.

Bhavanegala... Is about Kausir, played Master Karthik, a bloy mentally and physically by birth. His father Munaaf and mother Fathima love him dote on him. Munaaf is not prepared to accept that his son is a special child, but Fathima is realistic and accepts her son as he is.Munaaf tries to admit Kausir to a regular school, but in vain. Later, he admits his son to a special school. Meanwhile, Fathima gives birth to a normal child and couple begin to shower their attention on the newborn child, ignoring Kausir. A doctor educates the couple about the emotions of Kausir.
