Arunabh Kumar, the founder and CEO of The Viral Fever (TVF), an Mumbai-based production house that focuses on web shows, who was accused of sexual harassment by several women, has been summoned by the Mumbai police to record his statement.

According to a report by Mid-Day, the police informed the TVF office that he approach the MIDC police station to record his statement.  Kumar will be responding to a third-party FIR application filed by criminal lawyer Rizwan Siddiqui last week.

Along with Kumar’s statement, the police will also be recording Siddiqui’s statement as well. The cops are also tracking down the individual complaints and are trying to contact each of the victims through social media or other means.

A week ago, an anonymous blogger calling themselves The Indian Fowler wrote a piece alleging that she was sexually harassed by Kumar on several occasions. After the blog went viral, several women came out alleging that they too were sexually assaulted by Kumar. Despite a plea from the Mumbai Police, no one came forward to register a complaint.

The barrage of allegations prompted well-known advocate Rizwan Siddiqui to file a third-party application for an FIR at the MIDC police station. However, only the victims can nail Arunabh by coming forward and recording their statements.

Siddiqui has alleged that the cops are ‘dragging their feet on registering an FIR. "It is quite sad to place on record that the senior inspector of MIDC police station has still not registered the FIR despite full knowledge that all FIRs falling under Section 354 (molestation) have to be recorded immediately. As a matter of fact, the inspector is to be punished with imprisonment if he fails to perform his duty. This failure on his part is giving the accused sufficient time to tamper with evidence," alleged the lawyer while speaking to Mid-Day.
