She may be the fashionista of Bollywood but when it comes to acting, newbies like Alia and Parineeti Chopra seem to have raced past her. But, believe Sonam Kapoor to live in her cocoon and have an opinion about everything as seen on Koffee with Karan, where she appeared with her father Anil Kapoor.
The last time, she made an appearance was with 'Ramleela' girl Deepika Padukone and this time around, she attacked Deepika's sense of style, PR team and gave some style tips too.
But, social media users could not digest the fact that Sonam belittled everyone else including Parineeti Chopra, Deepika Padukone and made some statements that put her in the league of Bollywood's blondest actress.
Below are some of the statements she made:
Biggest movie stars ever were all fashion icons. The masses like me as a regular girl but the classes like me as a fashion icon. I’m catering to both sides,” said Sonam Kapoor on being probed about her fashion icon status.
”If you’re not good looking, they think you are a good actor. Just because you look ordinary and you talk loud doesn’t mean you’re a good actress,” said Sonam when asked about how she feels when she isn’t being talked about as being a good actor.
What does that imply for Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor or Priyanka Chopra then?
“An over-enthusiastic PR team” – Sonam on what Deepika Padukone has that she doesn’t. Is that jealousy considering that the dimpled star made her debut on the same day as Sonam but raced ahead in career with successful movies, success and stardom?
”Dress like yourself” – Sonam’s fashion advice to Vidya Balan. But, Vidya has time and again proven her talent and meteoric rise as an actor. So, we wonder why such remarks?
”Deepika doesn’t have her own style.” said Sonam on Deepika’s sense of fashion. This appears like a case of sour grapes as Deepika has been judged as the most fashionable star in Bollywood by a newspaper recently.
”Being considered an icon in your 20s is amazing. Most people become icons when they turn 40 or when they’re dead.” – Sonam on being a fashion icon.
”Katrina is herself. She isn’t trying to be a fashion icon which is really cool.” –Sonam on Katrina Kaif and her sense of style.
”Don’t wear those tight clothes," said Sonam on doling out fashion advice to Parineeti Chopra. While the girl maybe learning the tricks of fashion, Parineeti has proven her mettle with acting and has a National award nomination too.
Anil Kapoor had the following things to say on the show:
*Sonam would dare Ranbir to make a serious commitment to get married and settle down. This was voiced by Anil Kapoor too.
According to Anil Kapoor, Katrina Kaif is the sexiest and most stunning actress in Bollywood.
“I heard Katrina has changed but if she has, I’m going to give it to her because I don’t want her to change,” said Anil Kapoor. Is Ranbir listening?
"Ranbir Kapoor should never date Sonam," said Anil Kapoor in the rapid fire round.
