Sanjay Dutt's buddies to play football match with Indian cricket team.
A charity football match between Indian cricketers and B-Town stars will be played on March 30. Four of Sanjay Dutt’s closest friends — Abhishek Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Bunty Walia and Raj Kundra — will be playing in it with heavy hearts. The foursome were the first friends of the actor to reach the Dutt residence after the news of his sentence was first flashed on news channels.
While Dutt’s dosts are concerned for their buddy and would like nothing better than to spend time with their friend in his final days as a free man, the show has to go on. Also, since it is for a good cause, they decided to go ahead with the match.
Managed by Dutt’s best buddy, Walia, the All Stars Football Club (ASFC), is a property of the charitable trust, Playing for Humanity. Says Walia, “The main aim of the ASFC is to collect money for charity, using football as a platform. It also helps promote the sport.
We will play our first game on March 30 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi, against the All Hearts Football Club which is led by cricketer Virat Kohli. The ASFC captain is Abhishek Bachchan. The funds raised from goes to the Magic Bus Organisation, which works towards creating a better future for over a million children living in poverty.”
When asked if he considered cancelling the match, Walia says, “Sanju would never want the match to be cancelled. He understands that it’s for a great cause. Sanju does a lot of charity himself and supports this cause, though he was never meant to play the match.
The stadium has been booked, and we’ve been pracitsing every Sunday for the last six months. Virat is launching his team for his foundation and this is the best way for both cricket and movie stars to connect. It’s going to be a proper competitive football game according to FIFA rules.
We also plan to hold charity matches in Kolkata, Dhaka, Dubai and England.” Walia has also managed to get football legend Baichung Bhutia to coach the ASFC players to prepare for the matches.
