Today is a big day for TV actor Nishant Malkani, who is making his film debut with Vikram Bhatt’s Horror Story. The actor last seen in Ram Milayee Jodi is understandably a bit nervous and excited about the film that has an ensemble cast. “I believe that if you are good, even one frame is enough for you to stand out.

The thought that the film has an ensemble cast never bothered me. I was only concerned with the story and my character, which is pivotal to the film,” says Nishant, who plays a middle-class guy and the only one among five friends in the film to believe in the supernatural occurrences.

Also, his character dreams of becoming a superstar, which is what Nishant wanted to be when he was a child. “All my school friends laughed at me then, but I am glad God gave me an opportunity to pursue my dream,” says Nishant gratefully. And yet, after making a good start on TV, he was missing in action for over a year after Ram Milayee Jodi. “I was part of the show for the first six months and it was very popular.

However, I was unsatisfied as an actor. TV doesn’t give you time to think and you become a dummy. So, I quit and took a long break,” he explains. During that time he worked hard on his body and now looks nothing like the Gujarati boy he played in the serial.  He also got offers for three films, Horror Story being one of them.

The other two films are romcoms, one of them opposite Kirti Kulhari of Shaitan fame. In another, he is playing a love guru to the likes of Rajpal Yadav and Shakti Kapoor. “It’s a hilarious film,” says Nishant, who is hoping that his debut film will be successful and pave way for more.
