Tamil film stars pitch in for cyclone HudHud relief fund

Tamil film actors Surya, Karthi, Vishal and a Tamil Nadu based movie production house on Wednesday announced their contributions for cyclone Hudhud relief efforts, putting together Rs 50 lakh.

While Surya contributed Rs 25 lakh, his actor brother Karthi gave Rs 12.50 lakh and actor Vishal pitched in with Rs 15 lakh. Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green announced Rs 12.50 lakh, a publicist for the actors and the production house said.

All the actors and the production house are popular in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh as well. The Tamil Nadu government has already announced an aid of Rs five crore.

The state government has also supplied electrical equipment to AP and dispatched a team of highway officials to clear uprooted trees in that state.
