She may be petite, but the pretty Prachi Desai, who made her film debut opposite Farhan Akhtar in Rock On, was quite an athlete in her school days. The actress who has done films like Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai and Bol Bachchan talks about the importance of keeping fit and healthy.

Women are nurturers, and multi-task 24x7. Unless they are fit, they will not be able to give their best to the various roles they play in life. Therefore, it is important that we start taking care of ourselves.

Since I am an actress, I keep erratic hours. And this affects my workout, which is at best irregular. That’s the reason I change my workouts according to my mood and time. I don’t follow trends. These days I have really started enjoying yoga, which helps me keep fit and deal with stress as well. I swear by hot yoga. Sometimes, I climb up 30 floors if I have only 15-20 minutes in hand. For the longest time, I used to take my thin frame for granted but looking at my sister’s obsession for exercising I also started working out. I used to be a runner in school and very athletic as well.

Besides exercises, diet is the most important aspect, especially the timings, to maintain a healthy body. I would advise women to eat small portions every two hours and eat what suits their body. A combination of cardio and toning exercises will be fun.

I wish lots of luck to all the women who will be running the DNA iCan marathon. Cheers to DNA for this initiative!
