Sumit Raghavan is working  in his second Marathi film. Produced by Ajay Devgn, Nana Patekar is also part of this untitled thriller. Speaking about Nana’s temperament, Sumit says, “I had this fear before I started working with Mr Patekar. We have all heard stories of how he has a short fuse but it is not like that at all. Initially, I was wary of him and thought of keeping some distance between us. But he broke the ice. When we met he told me, ‘If you have any doubts on the film please tell me,’ and after every shot would ask ‘theek hua ya nahi’.”

He adds that he gelled very well with the senior actor, “Half the time I was sitting in his vanity van playing cards with him. Mr Patekar is a Hindi film music buff like me and would play the beats on the tables so well! We sang and cracked jokes.”

Nana would often also guide him on his shots. “Now I have started to have these conversations with him and I love it. He gives me variations and options and I think that’s the only way for a script to work.”

Gushing about Nana he adds, “He’s so witty and funny, masti-mazak chalta rahta hai. But he’s also focussed on his work and writes his own dialogues before he starts shooting for his films. When I asked him he told me, ‘this is the best exercise an actor can do as you learn your dialogues by heart and keep it in mind’. Before the film started he had the book ready with his own handwriting. His spot boy gives him the book and he goes through the scene.”

The film is based on the Marathi play Katkon Trikon, a whodunnit thriller with a nice message in the end. It’s a story from three point of views —husband and wife and Nana who plays a cop.
