'Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai' producer to come up with a new show with Apara Mehta

Even as Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai has created excitement with its return, its producer JD Majethia is coming up with a new show Bakula Bua Ka Bhoot. What’s interesting is that Apara Mehta, who plays a pivotal role in the show, is called Rekha after the diva. Even her character is inspired by the actress! Says JD, “Apara in real life also has that shringar and najakat. We used to tease her as Rekha. In the serial too, her husband romances her even at this age. She has a sense of humour and is in a happy space. And, yet she has some desires which she wants to fulfill.”

Apara, who made a mark as the saas in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and completes 20 years in television, plays a colourful personality in Bakula Bua Ka Bhoot. A fun character, she will be seen breaking into a garba every now and then. The story set in a Gujarati family is a quirky comedy and is a tussle between Apara’s character and her sister-in-law, albeit in a lighthearted manner. While Apara wants to control the family, it’s her sister-in-law who wields power. The serial is written by Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai writer Aatish Kapadia and for the first time his daughter Khushali is assisting him.
