The cult silver screen pair of Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia is set to capture the imagination of celluloid lovers yet again as they team up after five long years. They star in Nikhil Advani's next film called Patiala House, also starring Akshay Kumar and Anushka Sharma. Rishi and Dimple were last seen together in Pyaar Mein Twist.
A source said, "Patiala House has been inspired by real-life events. It's about a real-life Malhotra family, which is ruled by the head patriarch and have three generations living together. In adjoining buildings there are several Malhotra families who are actually part of a huge joint family. And every addition in the family is accommodated within the same building or adjoining building. All decisions are taken by Malhotra senior and everyone adheres to it."
The insider added, "In the movie the patriarch is Gurkreeat Singh Kalon (Rishi Kapoor) who rules and runs his family just like a prime minister would run a government. He is a strict disciplinarian whose authority and rules are not questioned by anyone."
Nikhil Advani said, "Our story is universal in spirit as it is a story about all joint families who have a patriarch who decides their lives and wants to keep everyone under one roof. The family has been living for the last four generations in South Hall, London. The patriarch has created his own fiefdom in the house. The entire concept of the film has been conceived by Rahul Nanda, son of famed writer and novelist Gulshan Nanda."
The movie goes on the floors in December and is slated to release during Diwali 2010.
