After a string of dramatic movies, Akshay Kumar has returned to comedy with Housefull 3. Riteish Deshmukh and Jacqueline Fernandez  have also come back for the third movie in the popular franchise. Director duo Sajid-Farhad took over from Sajid Khan who directed the first two movies. They bring in Abhishek Bachchan, Lisa Haydon, and Nargis Fakhri as new members of the comedy sequel.

Day one occupancy at the box office was at 35% across 3600 screens.

Here is what the critics have to say about Housefull 3

1. Sarita A Tanwar, dna

Housefull 3 is mad, irreverent and funny. And it has Akshay Kumar's outstanding return to comedy in one of his finest performances. Go for it.

Rating - ***

2. Shubhra Gupta, The Indian Express -

Boman Irani playing a Gujju billionaire, how many times will he wear a bad wig and make with accents? Now ol’ Jackie Shroff as a `goonda’ with a golden heart, I had hopes of, he’s still so cool, but what he can do, poor fellow, when he has to say : ‘yeh toh mere BHK hai. Baaiyen Haath Ka Khel hai’. Unbelievable.

Rating - none

3. Saibal Chatterjee, NDTV -

The onus is eventually on Akshay, Riteish and Abhishek to give the film some direction. But all that they do is flow along with the mindless tale, often hitting dead-ends from where there can be no return to sanity.

Housefull 3 is strictly for fans of the franchise. Are there any left?

Rating - * 1/2

4. Sukanya Verma, Rediff.com -

Still curious about this hokum? Clearly, sarcasm is not your cup of tea but there's good reason to believe Housefull 3 might be. If only I could say 'enjoy.'

Rating - *
