PC continues to score as the most popular actress on Twitter.
Here’s one more reason for Priyanka Chopra to smile. The actress who launched the video of her debut international single In My City on Tuesday at a suburban mall has emerged as the most popular actress on the microblogging site, Twitter. When it comes to celebrities, it is Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan who leads with the maximum followers.
Also in the top league are superstars Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan along with Priyanka. Following them closely are action king Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Oscar-winner AR Rahman, Deepika Padukone and ace cricketer Sachin Tendulkar.
While industry observers say that the numbers of followers are not a direct reflection of their box-office numbers, they do indicate the popularity of a star among the masses, especially the fans. And going by it, PC seems to be the only actress who’s been giving the other Bolly contenders a tagdi takkar. While the actress waves it all off with a ‘just happy to have so much love from my fans’ stance, insiders say that it’s fast becoming a parameter for a star’s popularity and that the importance cannot be overlooked.
Interestingly, a few years ago the actress was even invited to visit the Twitter headquarter in San Francisco,where she met with Biz Stone, the Twitter co-founder.
Besides ruling the social networking sites among actresses Priyanka is currently busy wrapping up her Apoorva Lakhia film Zanjeer. “If last year was an exciting one for PC with films like Barfi! and Agneepath, this year is promising to be even more happening. Apart from Zanjeer, she has Krissh 3 and Gunday to look forward to,” says an insider.
