The Supreme Court will hear a plea seeking cancellation of anticipatory bail granted to deceased actress Pratyusha Banerjee's boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh on May 30.

Pratyusha's parents, while seeking cancellation of the anticipatory bail granted to Rahul, expressed apprehension that "valuable piece of evidence may have been tampered by him." Her parents alleged that Pratyusha's death is not a case of suicide, adding that she was murdered by Rahul and his other partners in crime, as there were several deep injury marks on her body.

Her parents further alleged that the High Court "erroneously" granted anticipatory bail to the prime accused despite the prosecution raising as many as 15 grounds of opposition by the Special Public Prosecutor.

Pratyusha's parents approached the apex court on May 14 against the bail granted to Rahul. The Bombay High Court had on April 25 granted anticipatory bail to Rahul, who has so far denied the allegations levelled against him.

The parents also approached Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in this regard and requested him to get the matter investigated by another agency. Reportedly, the 24-year-old actress was in debt and used to often remain under the influence of alcohol.

Pratyusha, who shot to fame for her role as Anandi in Balika Vadhu, allegedly committed suicide on April 1 by hanging herself inside her flat in suburban Goregaon. Two days later, a case under IPC Sections 306 (abetment of suicide), 504, 506 (criminal intimidation), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of IPC was registered against Rahul following a complaint lodged by the actress' parents.
