Director Shashank’s latest venture Jarasandha, starring Vijay, has been hitting the headlines constantly, even before its muhurat. The film, which was to originally star Aindrita Ray as the female lead will now feature model-turned-actress Pranitha Subhash.
A source close to the film’s team tells us, “Pranitha will be cast as the heroine opposite Vijay. The film is scheduled to begin in February, and that’s when the casting will be made official too. Since Pranitha has had just one Kannada release so far, this new film could prove to be her much-needed break.”
Pranitha, who had a relatively lacklustre stint in Telugu as her film Baava (opposite Siddharth) did not do too well, has been wary about her next signing. The actress, who was bound by contract when she acted in Porki, lost out on many plum projects.
Director Shashank, who insists that the reason why this role did not go to Aindrita was because it required a different face, prefers to remain tight-lipped about his new choice.
