Ayushmann Khurrana might have started off as a potential debutant, winning all the possible debutant awards after a spectacular Vicky Donor. But ever since then, his films somehow did not manage to hold steam the way his maiden venture did. But Ayushmann kept reinventing himself, trying out new genres and at times making the best of what he's got.

Unique and relevant to Indians, it was the untold story that brought you closer to Hawaizaada, "Most definitely. We make biopics on many known people, athletes, We have never ever tried doing a film on someone who we have not heard before. I myself did not know who he was. But once I got to know, I knew I have to do it", smiled Ayushmann. But why an unsung hero? "There is no proof as Shivkar Talpade could not patent his discovery. There are many articles claiming he made the first airplane ever and it flew in air for 18 minutes in front of 500 people including Jawaharlal Nehru. We made a film on this person as he went to think out of the box and we hope now people at least recognise his achievement", Khurrana clarified.

But most of his films are based with the common man in mind. When asked, the actor says it's a conscious thing as well. "Yes, I do feel connected to such common man stories because I am a common man myself. When you make stories for the common man being a common man, it becomes more easy to connect with them. Vicky donor was about a common man's dilemma and the same with Bewakoofiyan". But there are films which work and some which don't. "That is not the end of life. You know you have tried to make it the best way possible. If it does not work, you do feel disheartened and then you again get back to work", Ayushmann continued, adding that Hawaizaada has a special place in his heart'

"There are only two films of mine that I have really connected with. Hawaizaada ranks top on the list. It is something that I am really proud of. Such films are ones where the script is the biggest superstars. Hawaizaada has a beautiful story woven with a lot of care and love. It has changed my perception towards life", Ayushmann revealed. But ask about his expectations and he has a totally different thing to tell. "More than box office numbers, I would want people to remember the film and remember the character, feel proud that it was not the Wright Brothers but an Indian who designed the first aircraft", he signs off.
