New TV shows to roll in 2015

From historicals, mythologicals, crime based dramas to love stories, not to forget the seasonal reality shows, the small-screen is gearing up to dish out a varied mix this year also

No doubt, television experimented with new concepts and themes last year but the old shows continued to rule and so did the saas-bahu sagas. Will 2015 be any different? If the line-up of shows is anything to go by, the year promises to be different. A lowdown..

Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat: Two producers Abhimanyu Singh and Siddharth Kumar Tewary were working on a serial depicting the life and times of Emperor Ashoka, for rival channels Colors and Star Plus. Well, Colors has raced ahead and will be airing the historical early this year. The promos are already on air. Siddharth Nigam will be playing the child Ashoka and Pallavi Subhash returns to TV as his mother.

Code Red: Since the success of Crime Patrol a decade ago, crime based shows have flooded the TV screens. The latest will be Code Red that purports to delve into the pysche of a criminal mind. The showwill highlight crimes against women and children and deal with issues like suicide - what drives people to end their life and other psychological entrapments like a bad marriage, cheating husband, etc. Sakshi Tanwar has been roped in to present the show.

Khatron Ke Khiladi: The adventure show returns with Rohit Shetty as the host. Shot in Cape Town, the show will have a new set of contestants showing their dare devilry to become the ultimate khiladi. The line-up includes Sana Khan, Sagarika Ghatge, Ashish Chaudaray, Iqbal Khan and Rashami Desai. There's a new twist in the format with the introduction of Salman Yusuff Khan as the challenger.
Main Lakshmi Tere Angan Ki 2: The first season was aired a couple of years ago and starred Shraddha Arya and Sudeep Sahir. It was taken off air abruptly as the channel wanted to air new shows. Now two years later, the show is coming back with a new cast and storyline. Nikita Dutta who was seen in the film Lekar Hum Deewana Dil will play the protagonist. It will be aired in February.

Dashavtar: After Devon Ke Dev Mahadev, producer Nikhil Sinha will be back with another mytholgical that will depict the 10 avatars of Vishnu. Saurabh Raj Jain who has become a favourite when it comes to playing Vishnu and Krishna - he played Krishna in Mahabharat and Vishnu in Mahadev - will be essaying the lead role.

Hotel: The show based on the hospitality industry will see Akanksha Singh making a comeback after Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha. A weekly show it will replace Airlines. Produced by Sudhir Sharma, it will also star Gaurav Chopra and two newcomers.

Manmarziyan: The comeback of Sanaya Irani's sister Kashmira who was last seen in Amber Dhara, the show is based on the concept of love and hate. Set in Mumbai, Kashmira will be seen as a working girl who lives life on her own terms.

MasterChef 4: The culinary talent hunt that begins this month is a veggie special this time around. Yes, the contestants will have to dish out vegetarian food only. Sanjeev Kapoor, Vikas Khanna and Ranveer Brar are back as judges.

Nach Baliye: After giving it a miss last year, the dance show will be back with a twist in the format and new judges. Produced by Ekta Kapoor, the show purports to be on the lines of Bigg Boss where-in couples will be locked up in a house for a month. Mohit Sehgal - Sanaya Irani and Mohit Raina - Mouni Roy and Ruslaan Mumtaz - Nirali are rumoured to be a part of the show.

Tere Shaher Mein: The serial starring Gautami Kapoor last seen in Khelti Hai Zindagi Aankh Micholi, is set to go on air in the beginning of March. Shot in Paris, Mumbai and Benaras in Paris, the serial is about the journey of a woman and her three daughters. Sachin Tyagi also is a part of the cast. Produced by Rajan Shahi, it has been in the making for over a year

Everybody Loves Raymond remake: The adaptation of the hit comedy show is being readied. Considering the show is among the favourite American sitcoms, we hope the makers tread carefully lest the joke is on them!

The Great Indian Family Drama: The just launched show traces the happenings in the life of a Nawaab who is lazy and lives in his own fantasy world. He believes that Nawaabs are not meant to work as it's against their pride and public image. Satish Kaushik plays the Nawaab and Archana Puran Singh returns to fiction playing his begum Paro.

Aahat: The horror show makes a comeback after five years. The supernatural thriller was a big hit in its earlier outings.

Bhanwar: Back in the nineties much before the likes of Crime Patrol came on the scene was Bhanwar that recreated true stories based on landmark judgments. The show returns.

Pethawala: A slice-of-life family drama it has Mohit Malhotra and Neil Bhatt in the cast. Mohit plays a boxer in the serial.
