My marriage turned into a nightmare: Sara Khan

The adage that marriages are made in heaven unfortunately did not turn out to be true in telly-actress Sara Khan’s case. The actress, who married long-time boyfriend Ali Merchant in a reality show, became the talk of the town. But her marriage barely lasted for two months and that became an even bigger topic of discussion.

A lot has been speculated since. Sara finally revealed to After Hrs the real reason behind her split with Merchant.

Sara became household name after her stint at Bigg Boss 4. There were alleged reports of her marriage on television being just another publicity stunt. She fumes that she does not require cheap publicity to become popular. She says, “Even before Bigg Boss, I have been doing a daily soap and that made me popular and got me the reality show. Besides, I married Ali because I loved him and not for money or to gain some cheap publicity as many say.”

Khan adds that she loved him unconditionally, but he showed his true colours only after their marriage and broke her trust. It was being speculated that the relationship went kaput due to financial issues, but if sources close to the couple are to be believed, it was Merchant’s flirtatious nature that caused trouble in paradise.

Khan says, “My marriage turned out to be a nightmare. I am deeply hurt by his behaviour. I gave him a thousand chances before I called off the relationship. But now we are separate and I believe in the saying that all that happens, happens for good. I don’t want to look back. I want to see forward and do better work than before.”
