Moving to Mumbai has its perks for a girl from a small town. Being able to listen to Indie bands is one of them. This is how I met The Tripp. An indie rock band based out of Bandra. This new voice on the block is now coming out with an EP called 'Superhuman'.

I first heard the band a year ago and absolutely loved their cover of Alt-J's Left Hand Free. This is when I started religiously following them.

The Tripp has Joel Padikkal on vocals, David Britto on bass, Keegan Moraes and Ralcus Aguiar on lead guitar, Rinaldo D'Souza on rhythm guitar and Ryan Sequeira on drums.

The nifty little EP is packed with substance. There are four songs in this Extended Play- Superhuman, Madness, Coming Home and How I Lose Track of Time.

The arc of EP starts on a high and gradually slows to a nice ballad in collaboration with Tara Sutaria of 'Oye Jassie' fame.

In 'Superhuman', Joel Padikkal has a certain way of saying 'Superhuman' similar to how Selena Gomez says 'Good' in 'Good For You' or Shawn Mendes in 'Stitches'. It sticks with you.

The song 'Madness' vibe is a lot like Red Hot Chilli Peppers's 'Snow (Hey Oh)'. But after first few notes in the song, it makes you realise the sound is original and has its own madness. Wish it went on for longer like Superhuman.

Slowing down the pace from 'Madness', 'Coming Home' is a good road trip song you can use for that new phenomenon called 'Carpool Karaoke'. The bass guitar by David Britto in this one stands out. And killer guitar solo by Ralcus Aguiar is something you don't want to miss.

The EP ends with the slow ballad 'How I Lose Track of Time' ft Tara Sutaria. The subtle use of percussion by Ryan Sequeira is most impressive. It embraces the soft notes of guitars and a small solo by Keegan Moraes makes it a good lounge listen.

It's quite clear from the EP that The Tripp has a lot more to offer. You can stream 'Superhuman' on Soundcloud and download it from OK Listen on June 16.
