France-based musician from Mali, Fatoumata Diawara has brought with her the sounds of West Africa on her recent India visit. Diawara's high-energy jazz and funk flowed into joyous and sensual folk-rock, during her performance here as part of the first leg of the five city tour 'Blackberrys Sharp Nights – Masters of World Music'

The singer inflects her infectious voice with the rhythms and melodies of her native Wassoulou, in southwest Mali. She combines her smooth yet powerful voice with slick guitar chords and dancing. Accompanied by a live band, the vocalist is set to perform her brand of Afro-pop music in Hyderabad on November 22.

Diwara called her performance at the BlueFrog "magical." "Music is the universal language of hope and harmony. Music is strong and spiritual. ...I could feel the love of the audience in my veins. I am overjoyed to be able to let my tunes float in this air and dissolve my rhythms with culture of India."

"The musical landscape in India is rich, bountiful and inspirational," says the 32 year-old musician, who is also known as Fatou. She spent the last year touring the world, culminating in a landmark performance at Glastonbury, 2013.

Along with Diwara, the other world renowned artiste on the tour, Malian folk fusion and blues guitarist and singer Vieux Farka Toure is set to perform in Pune on December 3 in Bengaluru on December 6 and Mumbai on December 10.

"Fatoumata's language of music is an inspiration for audiences across the world and we are delighted to be able to bring this moment of ecstasy in the lives of music lovers in Delhi," says Nikhil Mohan, Managing Director, Blackberrys.
