Just like food, water, clothing and shelter, education is a basic human right. But unfortunately, in our country a woman is traditionally considered the weaker sex, and so her education is easily compromised with.
That’s a shame because women are actually the centre of the household and only when they are educated will the family truly progress. By progress, I don’t only mean financially, but also socially and culturally. I feel that education is a must for all, but more often it is the women who need to fight for this right. I fully support the DNA iCan Marathon as it is helping to generate awareness about this and truly making an impact. The issue of health is also very important.
I myself took my health for granted for long until the shoot schedules started taking a toll on me and I fell sick quite often. It was then that I realised that we women always take our healths for granted and that mindset needs to change. Women are also going to become more aware of their own health through the marathon. It’s great to have women gear up and train for this months in advance. I would advice all to eat healthy, take care of their bodies and then make more noise about education too!
