He is the latest actor to flaunt his film's look. Parties, functions, airports... he has been spotted in the Dhoom 3 hat everywhere...

How to promote a film? There are many ways like planting stories about fights, affairs, controversies, mall visits to interact with fans, doing the rounds of channels, radio stations, TV shows and city tours. Everyone is doing the same thing. And the new thing to do is going dressed as your character to promote your film. Can you picture Johnny Depp going as Captain Jack Sparrow for every event? Or Robert Downey Jr making appearances in his Iron Man suit? Sounds ridiculous, no? But of all our B-Town actors are doing it. These days Aamir Khan seems to have become inseparable from the hat that he wears in the film and the poster of Dhoom 3. Be it movie events, or at the airport to catch a flight, he has been spotted hatted!  Sonam Kapoor wore desi ensembles while promoting Ranjhanaa and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, that is acceptable but some actors really push the limit. Thank God Kangana Ranaut had better sense than to promote Krrish 3 dressed as an alien. That tells us there are some sane actors left... Here is taking at look at all the guilty of committing this sin!

Aamir Khan
Aamir may do everything required to get under the skin of the character that he is playing. But he doesn’t always follow the dress-up-like-your-character diktat. For movies like Taare Zameen Par and 3 Idiots, the actor was seen wearing T-shirts and jeans that suited the character and were easy on the eyes too. During the promotion of Ghajini the actor was seen in waist coats like the character he plays in the first half of the film at a few events.

For his last release Talaash, the actor had grown a handlebar moustache so he was seen in that avatar everywhere for a year. With Dhoom 3, he has taken to sporting the hat like his on screen self. Aamir, who is brilliant at marketing his movies, seems to know how to strike the balance between dressing up like his on-screen character, but not over-doing it.
