The latest song 'Jaaneman Aah', featuring Varun Dhawan and Parineeti Chopra, from the upcoming flick Dishoom was unveiled on July 12. At the song launch, the amazing camaraderie of Varun and Parineeti created quite a lot of buzz. The two were at their sporting best and even danced to the tunes of the song together. Right from the time the song teaser was out, the Twitterati were going gaga over the kisses in the song.
While speaking about the song's shoot, Varun said there was a small improvisation in the song but Parineeti interrupted him saying it wasn't a small improvisation at all. The 'improvisation' that the duo was talking about was the lip lock which is seen in the song's video.
Before Varun could deviate any further, Parineeti decided to reveal the entire incident. So here it is, in the words of Parineeti herself:
"I will tell you the story... Main sach batana chahti hun sab ko. Hamne do din rehearsal ki. Hame laga full on dance number hai, bohot mehnat karni chahiye. Ab ham sets par hain, main waise hi bohot stressed hun kyunki mere body shots chal rahe hain. Main bohot kam khana khaya hua tha. Maine paani nahi piya hua tha. Suddenly, yahan se awaaz aati hai, 'Ham log kiss karein kya'? I was like, "What? Nahi. Kahan se? Kyun?(sic)." (I want to tell the truth to everyone. We rehearsed for two days. We thought that it's a full on dance number and so we should work very hard. Now we're there on the sets. I was already very stressed because my body shots were going on. I had eaten very less and didn't even drink water. Suddenly a voice came, "Should we kiss or what?" I was like "What? No. From where? Why?" )
Apparently, Rohit Dhawan, the director of Dishoom, wasn't there on the set. Parineeti jokingly said that, "Rohit jaise hi set se nikla, VD ko yeh brainwave aaya, ki main aaj Parineeti ko kiss karun. (laughs) (sic)" ( The moment Rohit was away from the set VD got this brainwave that today I will kiss Parineeti.)
She further reveals how the kissing scene actually became a part of the song, when it wasn't planned by the choreographer Ahmed Khan initially. Parineeti said, "Toh pehle ek do takes hamne try kiye, ke ham log thoda fake karte hain, you know, ham log off camera chale jayenge, ya aisa kuch..(sic)" ( So, first one or two takes we tried faking it...to go off camera a little or something like that.)
Varun interrupts her, pulling her leg and trying to act sober, says, "Parineeti ne bola ke you can't do all this. In today's day and age, if you want to kiss me, then kiss me full on."
Parineeti goes on to add, "Sab log, including jo hamare choreographer thhe woh shocked thhe pehle take ke baad, kyunki unko ye pata hi nahi tha ke ham log ye karne waale hain. So we had like this full step and ek one shot chal raha tha, beautiful romantic moment and at the end, there was suddenly a kiss . So I think even the dancers, Ahmed sir, everybody was in shock ke yeh kya hua. I had to make it very clear that it was his idea and not my idea (sic)." (So everyone, including our choreographer, was shocked after the first take as none of them has any idea that we're going to do this. So there was a one shot going on... and at the end there was suddenly a kiss.)
When Parineeti asked Varun to tell the reason why he wanted to kiss her, pat came Varun's reply, "It's a baby making song."
