The nine-month old show Kehta Hai Dil Jee Le Zara will be going off air in a couple of months and Ruslaan Mumtaaz (Dhruv) is planning to do films next. Says Ruslaan, “I have been offered seven films. I asked the makers of Jee Le Zara, when I can give the film producers my dates and I was told from June, when the show is going off air.” The show, a comeback vehicle for Sangeeta Ghosh and Ruslaan’s TV debut had a lot going for it but it did not garner good ratings. “Honesly, I don’t know about that because one doesn’t know how reliable ratings are,” says Ruslaan who will be completing the shooting of Romeo Idiot Jathani Juliet first and then decide which other film he will start. “I have to meet the producers and finalise my remuneration, dates etc,” says the actor who has won himself a huge female following post the show. “I wanted people to recognise me and the show has increased my popularity multifold. Also, I have improved as a performer,” says Ruslaan who began his career as a Bollywood actor with MP3 — Mera Pehla Pehla Pyaar.
Thanks to the show, he is back in the reckoning in films. “Yes, most of the producers have come to me because of Jee Le Zara. Either their wives or mothers have seen the show and recommended me,” smiles the actor.
The good-looking actor also tied the knot with his long-time girlfriend Nirali Mehta recently. “I was shooting 28-29 days of the month and did not have time to meet my girlfriend. The only way we could be together was if she came to my house. I come from a background where live-in relationships are not accepted, so we made it official and got married,” says the actor. Ask him, how Nirali reacts to his female fans and he says “she is proud about it”. “I get a little nervous when beautiful girls hit on me, but when I see her she is glowing with pride,” says Ruslaan happily.
