Stephen King fans, rejoice! The first trailer for science fantasy epic ?The Dark Tower? is here.

Stephen King, the acclaimed author took to Twitter and shared the first trailer of the movie based on the novel of the same name.

The trailer opens with Idris Elba, who plays the role of Roland Deschain saying, ?For a thousand generations the Gunslingers were knights, sworn to protect us from the coming of the dark,? his gun blasting at an unseen foe.

In the footage, Tom Taylor, who plays a young boy named Jack Chambers, is taken in and trained by Elba?s character Roland Deschain or The Gunslinger.

?Why does the Man in Black want to destroy the Tower?,? Jack asks The Gunslinger, who replies that "the Tower protects both our worlds and if it falls... hell will be unleashed."

The two face the threats of McConaughey?s Walter Padick, also known as The Man in Black.

At one point of the trailer, McConaughey taunts by saying, ?You can?t stop what?s coming. Death always wins.?

Adapted from the hugely popular eight-book series by novelist Stephen King, ?The Dark Tower? comes almost ten years after plans to develop a film franchise were put in motion.

The trailer sets the stage for the mystic and brutal battle between The Gunslinger and The Man in Black.

The film has been directed by Nikolaj Arcel and produced by Brian Grazer and Ron Howard and stars Idris Elba, Matthew McConaughey and Tom Taylor in pivotal roles.

The movie is scheduled to release on August 4 in the U.S.A.
