I don’t even know Shoaib Akhtar, says Dia Mirza

Though actress Dia Mirza claimed that reports about her imminent marriage to Pakistani fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar were baseless, the Pakistani media was claiming to have proof to the contrary.

One news organisation in the neighbouring country even claimed to have confirmatory quotes from the actress on this breaking news.

Some media houses speculated that Dia was getting engaged next month. They have sources close to Shoaib’s family giving them information about the development.

Dia wrote late night on Twitter, “I’m in SHOCK! Woke up from a nap after a long meeting n been getting calls from media asking me if I have married sum Pakistani cricketer!”

She added, “I don’t even know Shoaib Akhtar! I have no clue where all this started from, but it’s completely baseless and not true …  Just surprised that such ludicrous talk cn actually make it’s way 2 national news! It’s not even April fool's day! Ha ha … 4 d last time. Ive not spoken 2 Geo TV. Their claims R totally false. I’m not marrying Shoaib Akhtar. Do not know him.”

A close friend of the actress informed us, “Dia is furious. The media house that is claiming to have her quotes on record is lying. It is highly unacceptable and unprofessional to pass off something as a quote from a star when that person hasn’t even uttered a word on this. Dia is contemplating legal action.”

Interestingly, like tennis player Sania Mirza, who recently married Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik, Dia Mirza also hails from Hyderabad. And while both women have the same surname, both cricketers involved share the same name.
