Salman Khan’s 2002 hit and run case culimnated in a sad end after 13 long years. The actor was pronounced guilty and is sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment at the Arthur Road jail. Before the sentence was announced, Salman’s lawyer pleaded that the term be reduced owing to Salman’s health issues and submitted a copy of Salman’s medical report. It is known that Salman suffers from a nerve disorder called the Trigeminal Neuralgia which causes a stabbing or electric-shock-like pain in parts of the face. The report also confirms that the actor also has heart issues as he has an “aneurysm off his basilar artery.”

Here’s what the medical report read:

“Thank you for the opportunity to help in the care of Mr Khan for management of his arteriovenous malformation in the setting of right trigeminal neuralgia. Today the procedure was performed using steriotactic MRI, CT and angiographic guidance. The procedure went very well. The AVM was targeted using multiple 8 and 6 mm isocentres. Overall, teh volume was small and treated to a margin dose of 18 Gy with a maximum dose of 36 Gy adjacent to the right brainstem. We are hopeful that this will lead to progressive obliteration of the malformation over time and hopefully lead to significant improvement in the trigeminal neuralgia pain.

As we discussed in detail, he has an aneurysm off his basilar artery, and we would recommend consideration of treatment for this. A repeat angiogram in four to six months could indeed show if the aneurysm has changed in any way. Another option is that if teh pain continues unabated, then coil embolization of the aneurysm as well as partial Onyx embolization of the AVM (to reduce blood flow) might also lead to reduction in pain. Those procedures can be performed at the same time.

We look forward to further correspondence regarding how he is doing. Thanks for the opportunity in his care.”
